Baguio City
Baguio, The Summer Capital of the Philippines
by: Chloe Anne Maducot
Baguio is a city on the Cordillera Administrative Region in the middle of the island of Luzon, in the Philippines. Due to its cool mountain weather, Baguio is considered the "Summer Capital of the Philippines." Because of its many pine trees it is also called the City of Pines.
Baguio, on the Philippines’ Luzon island, is a mountain town of universities and resorts. Called the “City of Pines,” it’s particularly popular in summer due to unusually cooler weather. At its center is Burnham Park, with gardens and a lake. Nearby, Baguio Cathedral, completed in 1936, has a rose-hued exterior. The main thoroughfare is Session Road, lined with shops, restaurants and entertainment options.
What I love about Philippines?
What I love with the Philippines is the unique experience I get each time I visit a region in this beautiful country. With The Philippines being in a tropical climate, it’s fascinating that we can also experience the cold breeze and chilly weather here all year long. Nestled in the vast mountains of Baguio city upholds its picturesque mountain sceneries and breath-taking destinations up to this day. Filipinos often call it the Summer Capital of the Philippines since it is a perfect place to escape the summer heat. With Baguio now more accessible from Manila (only 3-4 hours away), it has grown from a hill station into a bustling city and one of the most visited destinations in the country.

Also referred to as the city of pines baguio doesn’t just have breathtaking views and the coolest temperature throughout the year but it also has a diverse culture and is a melting pot of cuisine art and traditions of various ethnicity thriving in the pine scented mountains of baguio. While a lot has changed here over the years, there are still lots of scenic spots reminiscent of the old baguio with the beautifully landscaped burnham park mines view park and camp john hay topping the list.
Stunning places every traveler should visit:
